Second Star Wishes is an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner agency, and this guide explains Disney's Lightning Lane Premier Pass: what it is, who can buy it, what it costs in 2026, and when it's actually worth the splurge. Short version: it's the priciest way to skip lines at Disney, and on the right day, it's worth every penny.

By Andrea Napiontek, Founder and CEO | Last Updated: October 2026 | Rules checked against Walt Disney World's official Lightning Lane page on October 7, 2026; upcoming price increase checked against Disney's October 2026 price announcement on October 12, 2026

Is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass Worth It?

It's worth it on your busiest, most important park day, especially at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios during holidays, spring break, or summer. For most families, buying it for every day of the trip isn't worth the cost. Lightning Lane Multi Pass plus a smart ride plan works great on the other days.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Walt Disney World

Premier Pass Quick Facts

  • Can anyone buy the Premier Pass at Disney World? Yes. Since January 2025, it's available to all guests with park admission, not just Deluxe Resort guests.

  • How far ahead can you buy it? Disney Resort hotel guests can buy 7 days before their stay. Everyone else can buy 3 days before their park day.

  • Does it sell out? Yes. Disney limits how many are sold, and peak dates at Magic Kingdom sell out.

What Is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass gives you one-time access to the Lightning Lane (the shorter, paid line) at every participating ride in one park for one day, with no return times to schedule. Lightning Lane is Disney's paid way to skip the regular standby line.

Here's how it compares to Disney's other options:

  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass: you pick up to 3 rides with set return times ahead of your visit, then add more during the day.

  • Lightning Lane Single Pass: you buy access to one of the most in-demand rides (up to 2 per day).

  • Lightning Lane Premier Pass: one entry to every Lightning Lane ride in that park, whenever you want, including the Single Pass rides.

Who Can Buy the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

At Walt Disney World, any guest with valid park admission can buy the Premier Pass, as long as it isn't sold out. When it first launched in fall 2024, it was only for Deluxe Resort guests, but Disney opened it to everyone in January 2025. Disneyland Resort in California also offers a Premier Pass.

How Much Does the Lightning Lane Premier Pass Cost?

The price changes by park and date, and it's per person, per day, plus tax. To give you a feel, here's what it ran during spring break 2026:

  • Magic Kingdom: up to $449

  • Hollywood Studios: $329 to $349

  • EPCOT: $219 to $249

  • Animal Kingdom: $159 to $199

Prices are usually lower on quieter dates. You can see current prices in the My Disney Experience app up to 21 days ahead.

Heads up, prices are going up: in October 2026, Disney announced that peak Premier Pass prices will rise $50 per person at every park. That puts the busiest days at about $499 at Magic Kingdom, $399 at Hollywood Studios, $299 at EPCOT, and $249 at Animal Kingdom, plus tax. Disney hasn't said exactly when the new prices start, so book early if Premier Pass is part of your holiday or spring break plan.

Here's the part that adds up fast: for a family of four at Magic Kingdom on a peak day, the pass alone can top $1,700 today...and close to $2,000 once the new peak prices start. That's why we usually suggest it for one key day, not the whole trip.

Which Rides Does the Premier Pass Include?

The Premier Pass covers every Lightning Lane ride in your chosen park, including the most popular Single Pass rides. Some highlights:

  • Magic Kingdom: TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tiana's Bayou Adventure

  • EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Frozen Ever After, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, Soarin' Around the World

  • Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway

  • Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris

Disney can add or change participating rides, so we always check the current list for your dates.

How Do You Buy the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

You buy it in the My Disney Experience app, in a separate purchase from any Multi Pass or Single Pass:

  1. Open the My Disney Experience app on your booking day (7 days before your stay for Disney Resort hotel guests, or 3 days before your park day for everyone else).

  2. Choose Lightning Lane Premier Pass, your park, and your date.

  3. Add everyone in your party and check out.

  4. On your park day, scan in at each Lightning Lane once, whenever you're ready.

TIP: On a Premier Pass day, stay in one park. The pass only works in the park you picked, so park hopping cuts into the value.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Lightning Lane Premier Pass

Is the Premier Pass worth it at Animal Kingdom?

Usually not. Animal Kingdom has fewer big rides and the lowest price, so Multi Pass is often enough. It can be worth it on a very busy day if Flight of Passage is a must.

Can you use the Premier Pass more than once on the same ride?

No. You get one Lightning Lane entry per participating ride. After that, you use the regular standby line.

Do kids need their own Premier Pass?

Yes. Everyone ages 3 and up who wants to use the Lightning Lane needs their own pass.

Can you buy the Premier Pass on the day of your visit?

Sometimes, if it hasn't sold out. On busy days, buy as soon as your window opens.
