Here’s Our Story

A Note from Andrea Napiontek, Founder of Second Star Wishes

One of my very favorite family travel memories is, admittedly, a simple one. It doesn’t come with bells and whistles, a transatlantic flight, or a theme park pass.

It’s this: When my oldest child was just four years old, we took a family trip out to California. We drove along the coast up from La Jolla, marveling at how a new breathtaking ocean scene came into view around every corner. My son begged me to stop—so I did.

We pulled off to the side of the road and picked our way down to a cove, settling in on a big boulder. And there the three of us—my son, my husband, and I—watched the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, waves crashing over the rocks and sea lions barking into the dusk.

As I held my son, it felt, for once, like time was standing still. We got the chance to slow down and simply “be,” together.

This is why I founded Second Star Wishes—to give always-on-the-go families more moments just like this one.

Because I know, as a parent today, you’ve got a to-do list a mile long and a million different hats to wear, from “chauffer” to “chef” to “launderer” to “after-school tutor.”

How rare is it we just get to be “mom” or “dad”?

That’s what travel gives us, a break from wearing all the hats except the one that matters most—especially when you don’t have to play “travel agent” too!

As family travel experts, my team and I create space in our clients’ oh-so-hectic lives for real, honest connection. And as a mom of three kids, two with special needs, I know exactly how precious time spent simply being together is.

Time goes by so quick (that four-year-old of mine is now in middle school!), and that’s why I want to help families carve out that precious time for connection today. And there’s no better way to connect than by sharing new discoveries and opening your child’s eyes to all the wonders the world holds in store for them.

So wherever you want to go next, I invite you to let my team take you there. Hand off all the hassle of planning yourself, so taking that much-needed vacation doesn’t become just another item on your to-do list.

Instead, it becomes a journey worth savoring all together, a million little moments of connection that add up to life-long family memories.
